PRESS RELEASE – Will Brown F4 Rnd 2 – QR
Young Queenslander Will Brown was looking forward to racing on his home track and consolidating his position in the championship following his race win in Townsville.
Will showed pace in practice and qualified fourth on the grid for Race 1. There was a lot of early car speed with some consistent racing in the first race but unfortunately a gearbox issue put him out.
The gearbox trouble relegated the top rookie from the last round to thirteenth spot on the grid in Race 2, a position he managed to capitalise on.
“Race 2 was good, I got a good start. I was able to move up a couple of positions in the first lap and then pick a couple more off in the next few laps and then I lost a bit of pace towards the end.
Brown managed to push his way up to eighth by the chequered flag.
“Race 3 was interesting, we had a good start, maintained fourth where we started, lost a bit of ground on Harry Hayek so just worked to get that back and in the last lap had a go at him but hit the marbles and went a bit wide and ended up getting fourth”
Will is showing some good consistent pace and finished the weekend with handy points towards the championship. He is improving with every session and more seat time will be the difference.
Brown won’t be sitting idle between Formula 4 rounds either as he plans on racing again at Queensland Raceway next weekend and continuing to develop on his promising raw talent.
Looking ahead to Round 3 at SMP Will said, ‘We will just try to build on this round and hopefully come home with a strong position”.
