PRESS RELEASE – Nick Rowe F4 Rnd 2 QR

Nick Rowe had a ‘trying’ weekend at the second round of the 2015 Formula 4 Championship after showing impressive pace at Townsville despite missing all the pre-season testing.

Nick qualified seventh for Race 1 and managed to gain a spot to take sixth place. This would put him on pole in the reverse top six for Race 2.

Nick started Race 2 at the front of the grid, “On the first lap I got to the lead and lost a few spots throughout the race but had enough speed to keep with the leaders then a few mistakes on my behalf and lacking a bit of straight line speed caused us to drop back a bit further than what we’d like”.

“I finished fourth, I was third for the majority of the race but when I came in they let me know I had a five second penalty due to a jump start … which I was a bit disappointed about but hopefully we bounce back for Race 3”.

A niggling issue with the car kept Nick from running with the leaders in the final race with the Western Australian finishing seventh to bank some points for the round.

Nick was frustrated he wasn’t on the pace. “Race 3 was up and down. We had really good car set up but we didn’t have much straight-line speed to be honest”.

“It was a hard weekend overall, it was really hard for the whole team to work around a few issues but we put our heads down. I improved my driving as much as I could to end up where I did was probably a good result”.

The young West Australian now heads to Malaysia for another round of the Formula Masters series before he returns for the third round of the Australian Formula 4 Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“I raced at SMP last year in the Formula Ford Championship and we got second so hopefully we can replicate that and maybe go one better. Hopefully the team and I can do a great job all weekend and maybe a one two three on the podium would be a good way to do it””.
