PRESS RELEASE – AGI Sport to field five drivers at Townsville

 

AGI Sport will start five drivers for the first round of the inaugural CAMS Jayco Formula 4 Championship that kicks off in Townsville next month.

Joining previously announced drivers Jimmy Vernon and Tom Grech are Queensland-based karter Will Brown, fellow Queenslander Jack Sipp and Western Australian Jordan Love.

Will Brown scored podiums during both the Queensland state karting titles and the NSW state titles in 2014 and finished on the podium in his first ever National Formula Ford race earlier this year.

Will has tested with AGI Sport in the Formula 4 car at both Phillip Island and Sydney Motorsport Park and has quickly taken to the wings and slicks car producing impressive lap times.

Jack Sipp hails from Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. Jack placed third in the 2010 Ipswich Dirt Kart Championship and also nabbed a podium finish in the first round of the Queensland Formula Ford Series in 2013.

Jack tested the Formula 4 with CAMS at Phillip Island and managed to produce some solid lap times.

Jordan Love is bringing international open wheeler racing experience to the team having competed in the AsiaCup Super 6 Championship. Jordan is also a WA State Karting Champion.

During the 2015 AsiaCup Super 6 championship Jordan scored pole position in four out of six races and posted the fasted lap in five out of six races, while taking more wins than any other driver. Unfortunately a failed alternator resulted in a DNF relegating him to second place for the meeting.

“We have a great mix of drivers on-board including some of this countries most promising young Karters through to experienced open wheel competitors which I think is testament to the appeal and opportunity provided by this new series.

‘Interest in the new Championship has been ramping up considerably in the weeks leading up to the inaugural round … and it’s great to see the buzz about the Championship.

‘The CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship will place these young drivers in front of huge audiences both on live TV and trackside as they support the popular V8 Supercars Championship.

‘The boys are going to be battling hard over a seven round championship. There’s plenty of incentive with the offer of funding and a testing program in European Formula 3 so I expect this series to provide a lot of entertainment and theatre both on and off the track”.

There are now only two weeks remaining until the series debut at the street circuit in Townsville from 10 – 12 July.

The CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship will also visit Queensland Raceway, Sydney Motorsport Park, Phillip Island and Sandown with the Gold Coast and Homebush street circuits expected to provide plenty of challenges for the aspiring young race drivers.
